Frequently Asked Questions

Here are answers to the most frequently asked questions about the Postbillpay service.

Bills

How do I make a Postbillpay payment?
Making a payment is simple. There is no need to register - just visit www.postbillpay.com.au and follow the step-by-step instructions. All you need is the Billpay code and reference number from your bill, your credit card, debit card or PayPal account details, and the amount you wish to pay. Upon confirmation, the payment will be processed immediately.

Can I pay all my bills with Postbillpay?
Billers who accept Postbillpay payments will have the Postbillpay logo displayed on their bill.

A list of participating billers is available on our biller list page.

Can I pay several bills from one biller in one payment, rather than paying each bill individually?
No. Each bill will need to be paid individually as each bill will have a different reference number.

What is a Billpay code?
A Billpay code is a 4-digit number that is used to identify the bill or biller you are paying.

What is a reference number?
A reference number is a unique number assigned to each customer by the biller, which allows them to identify that your bill has been paid.

Where do I find the Billpay code and reference number?
You will find the Billpay code and reference number next to the Postbillpay logo on your bill. On most bills, the Billpay code and reference number is displayed as follows:

Payments

How are Postbillpay payments processed?
Once you have confirmed payment details, funds are transferred electronically to the biller and credited to your billing account overnight where the payment is made before 5:00pm Australian Eastern Time (AET) on a business day. Payments made after 5:00pm will be processed on the following business day.

When should I make a Postbillpay payment so that it arrives before its due date?
You must submit your payment by 5:00pm Australian Eastern Time (AET) on or before the due date. For example, if your payment is due on 2 June, you must submit your payment before 5:00pm AET on 2 June for your payment to be delivered to the biller on this date.

Can I stop a payment that has already been made?
Postbillpay cannot stop a payment once it has been confirmed. Please contact your biller if you have made a payment in error.

When will my account be debited for my payment?
Your credit card, debit card or PayPal account will be debited immediately after you confirm the payment.

How can I prove that I made a Postbillpay payment?

Can I make a Postbillpay payment on behalf of someone else?
Yes. You can make payments for someone else; for example, a family member who is travelling and does not have access to the internet. Simply enter the Billpay code and reference number from their bill and your own credit card, debit card or PayPal details as if you were paying your own bill.
